I finally nabbed a copy of Coki - Torture / Shattered (Tempa).

Torture (or Tortured?) is THE one. When Kode 9 dropped it the other night I think I got whiplash from skankin so hard. I loved how Kodes didn't even need to look up at the crowd to give it an instant rewind right after the drop. Sound system badness I tells you. Can't believe I haven't given mention to the Phoenix Bar gig two Sundays ago. Some amazing tunes were played on that Hijack sound.. you can imagine it was pretty loud. I couldn't find my ear plugs at home so we had to improvise. It was the most fun i've had with toilet paper stuck in my ears.

deadbeat & gettin tipsy

I caught Deadbeat at 77 on the weekend. Totally digging the dubby electronic sounds he's been producing. For some unknown reason I pictured a room full of people just standing around during his set but was pleasantly surprised to see that everyone was getting down on the dance floor. Afterwards, I went to UN and danced to some Beyonce and Cassie and JT. True Story.

So i've been given the go ahead by the boss after asking for 2 months off. REJOICE! It might've been a problem if they said no, because I bought my plane ticket 5 months ago.

Now it's time to get my shit together. I've just booked the first stop in Osaka and I guess it will go from there. Eight more weeks until Japan and Europe!

I must've bought about a dozen new 12"s in the last week or so. So many great releases have come out lately and i'm looking forward to hearing them looouud. One to take note of is Geeneus' 3 tracker from the mighty SOULJA imprint (yes they're back). It has the awesome 'Parasite' which i'm finally glad has seen the light of day. The first time I heard it was when Lombardo dropped it at a Darksyde party in early 2004. All the ladies were getting down to its slinkiness and I was just floored with its sickening bass. It's so sexy and gangsta at the same time. Fun for the whole family I tell ya.

I checked out the World Press Photo exhibition earlier today at the State Library. It was the last day running but fortunately you can still see all the photos on the site. Some really confronting and downright amazing images on world events that have happened in the past year.

If you're a tight arse like me and don't mind watching free movies, then you should check this out on Wednesdays at the Chifley Plaza.

I only found out about it today so decided to investigate. They were screening 'Doro no kawa' aka Muddy River. If you hate kids, you probably won't enjoy it, but I found it to be very charming. You need to get there early though for decent seats otherwise peoples heads get in the way of the subtitles, then you have to pretend to laugh when everyone else is laughing.

My back tooth is bloody killing me, I should really get it checked out yet i find it hard to justify spending $200 at some dodgy dentist when i wouldn't think twice spending the same amount of money on records. My priorities are awesome.
